This morning, I felt it—my parts were overwhelmed, carrying a weight of emotions that needed gentle love and care. I could feel the need for compassion as I lay in bed, eyes covered, simply holding space for all the feelings within. It wasn’t about pushing through or ignoring what was there; it was about leaning in, allowing myself to rest with compassion.
I turned to a compassionate effortless mindfulness meditation, letting it guide me inward. As I allowed compassion to flow through, I noticed a shift—I was able to turn that compassion toward myself. I didn’t need to change or fix anything; I just needed to be with myself in a loving way. In that moment, I felt deeply connected to myself, surrounded by a sense of ease and calm. From this place, I found that my compassion grew, not just for myself but for everyone else navigating their own waves of emotion today.

As we move through this day with its intensity and uncertainty, I invite you to gift yourself this same compassion. Today brings so much—hope, tension, and the weight of decisions shaping our future. You may feel anxious or exhausted, and it’s okay to give yourself permission to rest, to reconnect, to be gentle with every part of yourself that’s feeling the weight of today.
Remember, even in troubling times, we can find peace within us. Compassion is always within reach. As I shared in the recent blog on using Effortless Mindfulness to navigate the election season, you don’t have to force peace or relief. Instead, you can simply allow yourself to rest in the compassion that’s already there, waiting for you. Anytime you need it today, that compassion is accessible—it doesn’t go away; it only needs us to turn toward it.
Today, allow compassion to be your companion. Trust that it’s always within reach, ready to offer you support and care. Give yourself permission to let it hold you, steady you, and remind you that you’re not alone in this. Whatever comes, be gentle with yourselves. You deserve it.
In compassionate support,
Forest Benedict, LMFT
