A highlight of my life happened tonight. I witnessed the wonderful act of an addict graduating their program. Tonight I was reminded how a soul of shattered pieces can resurrect into a magnificent mosaic. This journey is demanding; a pilgrimage through pain. This work challenges both client and therapist. But when this night arrives, we gain great perspective. It is all worth it.
A graduation reveals the strength of the group. Going through hell together cements a precious camaraderie. The group morphs into family. Once solo; now a team. Deep bonds ripen through recovery. This too inspires me.
Tonight revealed the holiness of this work; reminding the wounded of their infinite worth. Then, guiding them, like children, to discover their purposeful path. As they are cured, they learn to give back.
Goodbyes with graduates are bittersweet; both sad and joyful. We celebrate both the end and the beginning.
Graduates inspire me and fill me with hope. They are heroes among us.
