Today as I listened to some preaching on porn, I was stunned to hear my name and book mentioned. What shocked me more was the sermon’s timing: It was recorded yesterday on my 15 year recovery anniversary. The pastor didn’t know these details but my Higher Power did.
If you’re interested, here is the sermon. The pastor handled the subject SO well. He communicated in a loving, non-shaming way, sharing neuroscience and stats, acknowledging that BOTH men and women struggle, sharing the trauma of partners, exposing the truth that children are vulnerable, discussing healthy sexuality and sexual abuse, and much more. It is refreshing to see a church leader address the topic of pornography with such honesty, knowledge, and grace.
Whether you consider yourself a person of faith or not, I hope you’ll find some tokens of wisdom in this message. May we all experience our Higher Power in the details, as we progress forward on our healing journey.
PS: I am not a Dr. If you watch, you’ll understand.
