From the ICU: A Whirlwind Week & the Comfort of Connection

Father son hands
I’m sitting in the pediatric ICU after a whirlwind week, starting with a Wednesday full of highs and lows. After a highly anticipated interview for the Fortify community including my first big announcement of my online groups, our 5 year old son was rushed by ambulance to the ER. He’s been in the ICU since then, suffering from a severe asthma attack and 2 viruses (the smoky California air can’t be helping either). Thankfully, his condition is improving. Right now he’s eating his first meal in over 48 hours! It’s been a difficult few days but we’re incredibly grateful for an outpouring of love from everyone around us. We welcome any love and light you’d like to send our son’s way.

Today in the hospital I had some downtime and wrote responses to questions posed in my Fortify interview. If you’re interested, you can go in and watch the recorded interview and check out those responses, which included content from my book and other shared perspectives. To do so for free, follow the instruction here.

Isn’t this how life is? One moment is brimming with joy, the next minute we’re suffering in uncertainty. In all of it, may we experience gratitude. These ups and downs mean we’re alive. And when others rally around us, there is comfort in connection.
